2026 Flamboro Speedway - Steel City Rumble Series

The Steel City Rumble Series debuted last season and is a five-race championship for Super Stocks at Flamboro Speedway.

A race is scheduled for each month:

Saturday, May 2 - 35-laps
Saturday, June 20 - 35-laps
Saturday, July 11 - 50-laps (with Dayco Super Stock Series)
Saturday, August 15 - Twin 30-laps
Sunday, September 19 - 50-laps

The Super Stock category includes a variety of makes and models from the '60s to the current year. The rules used in the class allow some suspension modifications and changes to the bodies. Some Super Stock cars retain the original steel bodies with plastic noses and fiberglass hoods; however, most use fiberglass body panels. They are powered by a modified small-block engines or crate motors from General Motors and Ford. The division serves as a 'stepping stone' for those drivers who aspire to compete in the Pro Late Model category.

Tire rules have been implemented to reduce expenses. Teams are limited to an inventory of four used and five new tires during the season. Additionally, all drivers must use American Racer 870 tires. Furthermore, a sixth tire will be added to a team's inventory for the final race if the driver has competed in the previous four Steel City Rumble Series events. Finally, if a driver hasn't competed in the first two races and enters a single event, they must start last.

To attract Super Stock competitors, a purse per race of $4,390 is being offered. Feature races pay from first to fifteenth position. The winner earns $650, second place pays $400, and third is good for $300. The year-end points fund totals $5000, with the champion collecting $2,000. The championship pays through to the sixth spot.

The series offers several bonus awards:

Stewart's is giving $100 to the fastest qualifier at each event.
The London Recreational Racing Hard Charger Bonus awards the driver advancing the most positions during the race with $100. There is also a $500 prize for the Hard Charger Champion, awarded to the competitor who gained the most places in the series.
Collison Motorsports is paying a $100 bonus to the highest finishing registered Steel City Rumble Super Stock driver in all five Dayco events.
Robertson Racing is providing a $100 bonus at each race, selected at random, to a driver finishing in positions sixth to last.
There are also awards for the Best Appearing Car and Rookie of the Year.

The 2026 Steel City Rumble Series opener was held at Flamboro Speedway on May 4. Drivers competed in the London Recreational Racing thirty-five-lap contest around the 0.333-mile semi-banked asphalt oval.

Unfortunately, only six drivers entered the opening round of the 2026 Steel City Rumble Series at Flamboro Speedway. After a roll of the dice, the third fastest qualifier, Colton Everingham, started on the pole in the No. 48 Ryan's Landscaping Chevrolet Camaro. Sharing the front row with Everingham was Shawn Chenoweth, driving the No. 89C Stewart's / LLR Chevrolet Camaro. Behind the leaders is the fastest qualifier, Lane Zardo, and Justin Collison.

Shawn Chenoweth faces a busy season, competing in the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown, Steel City Rumble, Dayco series, and several APC Late Model events. At the Flamboro season opener, he finished fifth in the Late Model contest, then qualified third-fastest and started on the pole for the Steel City Rumble in the No. 89C Stewart's / LLR Chevrolet Camaro. Chenoweth led every lap to take the win.

Another driver keeping himself occupied this year is Lane Zardo. In 2025, Zardo collected the Steel City Rumble and Dayco Super Stock titles. He returns this year driving the No. 36Z Bester Forest Products Ford Mustang and was the fastest qualifier for round one. After a roll of the dice, Zardo started third. An issue in the race for Colton Everingham moved him to second place. Zardo chased Shawn Chenoweth and was the runner-up by a margin of 4.333 seconds.

In the series debut last season, the championship organizer, Justin Collison, was knocked out of the race on lap 5. This year, Collison qualified and started fourth in the No. 13C London Recreational Racing Chevrolet Camaro. On lap 2, there was contact between Shawn Chenoweth and Colton Everingham, which allowed Collison to advance to the third spot. Unable to match the pace of the leaders, he crossed the finish line in third place.

The battle for Sunset Speedway supremacy was between last year’s track champion, Colton Everingham, and Cole Burrows. Everingham had a tie-rod issue on his No. 48 Ryan's Landscaping Chevrolet Camaro after contact with Shawn Chenoweth. During the caution period, the team completed repairs. On the restart, Everingham charged through the field. He had an epic battle with Burrows in the No. 63 IW721 Chevrolet Camaro before finishing fourth.

The top three finishers for round one of the Steel City Rumble Series at Flamboro Speedway. After finishing fifth in the Late Model contest earlier in the day, Shawn Chenoweth, standing in the center, collected the victory in the Super Stock division. Last year’s champion, Lane Zardo, stands on the right. Zardo finished in the runner-up position. Series organizer Justin Collison claimed the third spot.
