Now in its thirty-sixth year, the Ontario Stock Car Association of Asphalt Racers (OSCAAR) is responsible
for sanctioning three divisions: Modified, Super Late Model and Hot Rod.
The OSCAAR Modified class is sponsored by Overkill Enterprises. There are eleven races on the 2026 Overkill Enterprises OSCAAR Modified schedule.
The cars competing in this class are purpose-built open-wheel vehicles. The Modifieds use a steel tube frame chassis, which is no less than 1-3/4-inch outside diameter with 0.095-inch wall thickness. Bodies are made of sheet metal, with the driver’s compartment and engine bay covered. Modifieds may use any make or model with any body style, but cars must have a stock-appearing roof (minimum 9 sq ft) with A-pillars covering the roll cage and attached to the windshield frame. A full hood must cover the engine and radiator. Rear wheels and flares cannot extend beyond nerf bars or scrub rails, and bodies must be complete at the start of each event. Roofs must be at least 38-inches high, measured 10-inches back from the windshield; left side window openings must be at least 13-inches high x 24-inches wide. They tend to have little to no resemblance to their road-going counterparts. The motor option (GM 602 and 604 Crate engines or Built engines) determines the vehicle's weight. A Modified equipped with a 350-horsepower Crate Engine is the lightest at 2,600 pounds, while a car powered by a Built Motor requires 2,775 pounds. Weight may be added or removed depending on the choice of transmission. For example, there is a 50 lb. weight break for automatic transmissions. Wheels must be 15-inch diameter steel racing wheels with a maximum width of 10". The only approved tires for the division are the American Racer (AR153) spec tires in the listed 2026 sizes (27.0/10.0-15, 26.5/10.0-15, or 26.0/10.0-15). Many of the other rules governing the OSCAAR Modified class are intended to enhance driver safety and keep costs down. The third race of the OSCAAR Overkill Enterprises Modified Series was held at ‘Canada’s Toughest 1/3-Mile Oval,’ Peterborough Speedway. This was a milestone event for OSCAAR, marking the 150th race for the Modified division. This weekend, drivers competed in two heat races and a forty-lap feature.

Ontario Legend racer Matt Haufe joined the Modified ranks last season at the Sunset Speedway. This year, Haufe is competing in the OSCAAR Overkill Enterprises Modified Tour driving the No. 16 Aquaman Pool & Spa Service Modified. He showed speed early at Peterborough Speedway, finishing second and third in the heats. Haufe started the feature in the third spot, but advanced early and grabbed the lead and win when Max Beyore spun. |

Rick Burbridge joined the OSCAAR Overkill Enterprises Modified division after competing in Late Models. Burbridge drives the car previously owned by A.J. Emms. He has transitioned quickly to the new category. After just two races, he has a pair of third-place finishes. At Peterborough, Burbridge collected second- and third-place results in the heats. He started and finished second in the finale, but more importantly, he is tied for the lead in the points chase. |

OSCAAR veteran Wally Wilson drives the No. 69 The Fyre Place Modified. Last season, Wilson won the Sunset Speedway Modified championship. He has gotten off to a rough start this year with a fifth-place result and a retirement at Delaware Speedway. The picture didn’t appear much better at Peterborough when he posted fourth and fifth place results in the heats. Wilson started the feature in ninth place but charged through the field to finish third. |

Steve Trendell is another veteran of the OSCAAR Modified Series. Last season, he secured his first Modified championship by a single point over Dale Reinhart. This year he returns driving the familiar No. 46 519 Tint Modified. At Peterborough Speedway, Trendell was third in heat two but won heat four. He lined up fourth for the weekend’s final contest. Passed by Wally Wilson and unable to capitalize on Max Beyore’s spin, he finished fourth. |

Max Beyore’s last event was at Autumn Colours, which he won. Still on form, Beyore crossed the finish line first in heat race one but finished sixth in the fourth heat. He started on the pole for the feature driving the No. 91 JCL Graphics Modified and was leading comfortably when the lapped car of Eric McLean spun him in turn three. Both drivers continued, with Beyore finishing in the seventh position and McLean in the eighth spot. |

Last year, Dale Reinhart lost the OSCAAR Overkill Enterprises Modified title by just one point. This season, the driver of the No. 51 Scott Reinhart Trailers Sales Modified has set out to rectify this situation by winning the first two rounds of the series. Unfortunately, a prior engagement prevented Reinhart from attending Peterborough. In an effort to collect points, he enlisted Norman Newman to drive his car. Newman finished ninth after starting eleventh. |
