Now in its thirty-sixth year, the Ontario Stock Car Association of Asphalt Racers (OSCAAR) is responsible
for sanctioning three divisions: Modified, Super Late Model and Hot Rod.
The OSCAAR Modified class is sponsored by Overkill Enterprises. There are eleven races on the 2026 Overkill Enterprises OSCAAR Modified schedule.
The cars competing in this class are purpose-built open-wheel vehicles. The Modifieds use a steel tube frame chassis, which is no less than 1-3/4-inch outside diameter with 0.095-inch wall thickness. Bodies are made of sheet metal, with the driver’s compartment and engine bay covered. Modifieds may use any make or model with any body style, but cars must have a stock-appearing roof (minimum 9 sq ft) with A-pillars covering the roll cage and attached to the windshield frame. A full hood must cover the engine and radiator. Rear wheels and flares cannot extend beyond nerf bars or scrub rails, and bodies must be complete at the start of each event. Roofs must be at least 38-inches high, measured 10-inches back from the windshield; left side window openings must be at least 13-inches high x 24-inches wide. They tend to have little to no resemblance to their road-going counterparts. The motor option (GM 602 and 604 Crate engines or Built engines) determines the vehicle's weight. A Modified equipped with a 350-horsepower Crate Engine is the lightest at 2,600 pounds, while a car powered by a Built Motor requires 2,775 pounds. Weight may be added or removed depending on the choice of transmission. For example, there is a 50 lb. weight break for automatic transmissions. Wheels must be 15-inch diameter steel racing wheels with a maximum width of 10". The only approved tires for the division are the American Racer (AR153) spec tires in the listed 2026 sizes (27.0/10.0-15, 26.5/10.0-15, or 26.0/10.0-15). Many of the other rules governing the OSCAAR Modified class are intended to enhance driver safety and keep costs down. Round two of the 2026 Overkill Enterprise OSCAAR Modifieds presented by Lloyd’s Paving (Wyoming) Limited series was held at Delaware Speedway during the Canada Day weekend event. Modified drivers competed in a thirty-lap contest around the half-mile semi-banked asphalt oval.

Fourteen Overkill Enterprise OSCAAR Modifieds were entered for round two at Delaware Speedway. Starting the thirty-lap feature on the pole was the No. 2 Scott’s Auto Repair sponsored Modified of Rick Burbridge. Beside Burbridge is the No. 29 Modified driven by Daryl Henwood. In the second row are the No. 88 Darrell Dick Excavating Modified of Ryan Dick and Dale Reinhart in the No. 51 Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Modified of Dale Reinhart. |

Last season, Dale Reinhart won the final race of the season at Delaware Speedway but lost the championship by a single point. After the first two rounds of the series, it appears that Reinhart is going to rectify that situation. He won the 2026 opener at Sauble Speedway and was victorious at Delaware. Reinhart won the first Heat and started the feature in fourth place. The No. 51 Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Modified moved into the lead on lap 3 for the victory. |

Local racer Steve McCaw has made a successful transition from the OSCAAR Hot Rods to the Overkill Enterprise OSCAAR Modified division. McCaw drives the No. 4 Modified with support from Ray Cullen Chevrolet. He was entered in Heat Race Two and gridded last, but only advanced one position to finish sixth. McCaw started the feature in the twelfth spot but charged through the field. During the race, he set the fastest lap and finished second by 3.126 seconds. |

Another driver switching categories was Flamboro Speedway Late Model competitor Rick Burbridge. In the off-season, Burbridge purchased A.J. Emms Modified. The car had its number changed to 2 and is sponsored by Scott’s Auto Repair. He finished third in his series debut at Sauble Speedway. At Delaware, Burbridge participated in Heat Race Two and finished second. He started the feature on the pole but could not match the pace of Dale Reinhart and Steve McCaw and finished third. |

Perennial frontrunner Jason Keen pilots the No. 18 Modified with backing from Oakville Auto and Diesel. Keen’s 2026 season has got off to a difficult start with motor issues at Sauble Speedway and an accident with his Canadian Vintage Modified at Flamboro Speedway. He was entered in Heat Race One at Delaware Speedway and finished second after starting fifth. Keen lined up fifth for the feature and finished fourth after a steady performance. |

The reigning Overkill Enterprise OSCAAR Modified champion is Steve Trendell, driver of the No. 46 519 Tint-sponsored Modified. Trendell captured the title by a single point in the last contest of the season at Delaware Speedway. He opened the defense of his crown with a fourth-place result at Sauble Speedway. At round two, Trendell started the thirty-lap feature in sixth place and finished fifth. He is currently third in the points chase. |
