The Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series is an eight-race championship held at Flamboro Speedway.
As an incentive to increase Late Model entries, Flamboro Speedway is offering a healthy purse per race and for the final point standings. Feature races pay from first to twentieth position. The winner earns $1,600, second place pays 1,000 and third is good for $800. The total payout for a field of twenty cars is $11,450. The year end points fund totals $50,000, with the champion collecting $15,000. The championship pays through to fifthteenth place. Pro Late Models are constructed according to specifications and controls standard to most stock car series. The chassis is a tube frame covered with a fiberglass body. Eligiable bodies such as the Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang and Toyota Camry are produced by ABC Bodies, AP Muscle Car Bodies and 2019 Five Star Modern Muscle Bodies. A car can weigh as much as 2755 lbs., depending on the engine choice. Unlike the popular APC series, the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series allows teams to compete with Crate Engines or Built Motors. Rules restrict internal engine components. There is a tire rule which limits competitor to six tires to start year, all tire numbers must be submitted before any race. One tire per week limit after first race. Four tires will be allowed for JR Hanley Classic Twin 72’s. All teams use American Racer AR153-10 tires.The tires are mounted on 15" x 10" steel wheels. Transmissions must remain stock appearing O.E.M. 4 speed with all forward gears working as originally produced and a reverse gear. There are also rules restricting the options for ignition components, body material, brakes, etc. Round six of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series for Late Models was held at Flamboro Speedway on August 29th, with drivers competing in a fifty-lap contest around the 0.333-mile semi-banked asphalt oval. |

Shae Gemmell and Jake Sheridan had dominated the winner’s column since round five of the championship, but on Saturday evening Shawn Chenoweth ended the trend. Chenoweth, who is third in the points chase, qualified sixth fastest in the No. 89C London Recreation Racing Chevrolet SS. After a six-car invert, he started on the pole and jumped into first place at the start. He led flag-to-flag for the victory. |

Jake Sheridan and Shae Gemmell have dominated the series and are tied in the point standings. Gemmell’s record includes three victories in the No. 3 APC Auto Parts Centers Chevrolet SS. He was the fastest qualifier and, with the six-car invert, started in the sixth spot. By lap 13, Gemmell had advanced to second place, but Sheridan, Billy Schwartzenberg and Blair Wickett kept the pressure on. He held on to finish second and move into the championship lead. |

Jake Sheridan and Shae Gemmell are also entered in the APC United Late Model Series. Sheridan leads the championship with one race remaining. He collected two wins in the Flamboro series but has been more consistent than his rival, Gemmell. The driver of the No. 52 Vibrent Farms Ford Mustang qualified fourth fastest and lined up third. Sheridan moved into second on the opening lap, but Gemmell passed him, and he finished third. |

Flamborough Speedway regular Billy Schwartzenberg pilots the No. 86 Hy-Grade Steel Roofing Ford Mustang. The track’s two-time Late Model champion is currently fourth in the standings. At round six of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series, he qualified second fastest and was gridded in the fifth position. Schwartzenberg moved into third place on lap 1, but he could not hold off a hard-charging Shae Gemmell and finished fourth. |

During time trials for Saturday’s Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series, Blair Wickett set the third fastest time and started the fifty-lap contest in the fourth position. Wickett lost places early to Billy Schwartzenberg and Shea Gemmell, but on lap 5 he passed the second-place starter, Tyler Divenanzo, for fifth. The No. 97 Ry-Matt Mini Storage Ford Mustang slotted in behind Jake Sheridan, Gemmell and Schwartzenberg to finish fifth. |
