The Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series is an eight-race championship held at Flamboro Speedway.
As an incentive to increase Late Model entries, Flamboro Speedway is offering a healthy purse per race and for the final point standings. Feature races pay from first to twentieth position. The winner earns $1,600, second place pays 1,000 and third is good for $800. The total payout for a field of twenty cars is $11,450. The year end points fund totals $50,000, with the champion collecting $15,000. The championship pays through to fifthteenth place. Pro Late Models are constructed according to specifications and controls standard to most stock car series. The chassis is a tube frame covered with a fiberglass body. Eligiable bodies such as the Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang and Toyota Camry are produced by ABC Bodies, AP Muscle Car Bodies and 2019 Five Star Modern Muscle Bodies. A car can weigh as much as 2755 lbs., depending on the engine choice. Unlike the popular APC series, the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series allows teams to compete with Crate Engines or Built Motors. Rules restrict internal engine components. There is a tire rule which limits competitor to six tires to start year, all tire numbers must be submitted before any race. One tire per week limit after first race. Four tires will be allowed for JR Hanley Classic Twin 72’s. All teams use American Racer AR153-10 tires.The tires are mounted on 15" x 10" steel wheels. Transmissions must remain stock appearing O.E.M. 4 speed with all forward gears working as originally produced and a reverse gear. There are also rules restricting the options for ignition components, body material, brakes, etc. Round five of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series for Late Models was held at Flamboro Speedway on August 8th. Drivers competed in a fifty-lap contest around the 0.333-mile semi-banked asphalt oval. |

Eleven Pro Late Model drivers enter Flamboro Speedway’s first corner for round five of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series. On the pole, after the six-car inversion, is Kevin Albers in the No. 27 Seberras Professional Services Chevrolet Camaro. On the outside of Albers is the No. 52 Vibrent Farms Ford Mustang driven by Jake Sheridan. In row two is Blair Wickett in the No. 97 Ford Mustang and Billy Schwartzenberg also in a Mustang. |

Jake Sheridan and Shae Gemmell have been trading Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series wins. Last time out, Gemmell was victorious, but on August 8th, it was Sheridan’s turn. The APC United Late Model points leader started on the outside of the front row after qualifying fifth. At the beginning of the race, he chased the pole-sitter, Kevin Albers. On the first restart, Sheridan passed Albers for the lead and held the position to the checkered flag. |

Finishing in the runner-up position on Saturday evening was Shawn Chenoweth. The second-place finish matched his round two result, which is his best of the series. Chenoweth was second fastest in qualifying, missing the pole by just 1/1000 of a second. He was gridded fifth in the No. 89C London Recreation Racing Chevrolet SS. Passes on Kevin Albers and Blair Wickett moved him into second. Despite pressure from Shae Gemmell, Chenoweth took second place. |

The points leader, by just two markers, entering round five of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown was Shae Gemmell. The APC United Late Model regular has two victories in the Flamboro series. During the qualifying session, Gemmell was the fastest and after the invert, started sixth. Gemmell, driving the No. 3 APC Auto Parts Centres Chevrolet SS, followed Shawn Chenoweth during the race. Unable to pass Chenoweth, he finished third. |

Blair Wickett is a former APC United Late Model competitor who has changed his focus and is campaigning in the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series. During time trials, Wickett set the fourth-fastest time and started third after the invert. He held his position until the first restart when Shawn Chenoweth passed him. On lap 8, Wickett lost a place to Shae Gemmell. He chased the leaders but was unable to pass, finishing fourth. |

Jake Sheridan and his No. 52 Vibrent Farms/Raptor Filters-sponsored Ford Mustang are having an excellent season. Sheridan is leading the APC United Late Model championship, with a record that includes four wins in six events. On Saturday evening, his victory moved him into the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown points lead. Sheridan has won three of five Flamboro Grisdale series events. |
