The Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series is an eight-race championship held at Flamboro Speedway.
As an incentive to increase Late Model entries, Flamboro Speedway is offering a healthy purse per race and for the final point standings. Feature races pay from first to twentieth position. The winner earns $1,600, second place pays 1,000 and third is good for $800. The total payout for a field of twenty cars is $11,450. The year end points fund totals $50,000, with the champion collecting $15,000. The championship pays through to fifthteenth place. Pro Late Models are constructed according to specifications and controls standard to most stock car series. The chassis is a tube frame covered with a fiberglass body. Eligiable bodies such as the Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang and Toyota Camry are produced by ABC Bodies, AP Muscle Car Bodies and 2019 Five Star Modern Muscle Bodies. A car can weigh as much as 2755 lbs., depending on the engine choice. Unlike the popular APC series, the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series allows teams to compete with Crate Engines or Built Motors. Rules restrict internal engine components. There is a tire rule which limits competitor to six tires to start year, all tire numbers must be submitted before any race. One tire per week limit after first race. Four tires will be allowed for JR Hanley Classic Twin 72’s. All teams use American Racer AR153-10 tires.The tires are mounted on 15" x 10" steel wheels. Transmissions must remain stock appearing O.E.M. 4 speed with all forward gears working as originally produced and a reverse gear. There are also rules restricting the options for ignition components, body material, brakes, etc. Round three of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series for Late Models was held at Flamboro Speedway on July 4th. Drivers competed in a fifty-lap contest around the 0.333-mile semi-banked asphalt oval. |

Shae Gemmell started this season with a victory in the opening round of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown. However, he has struggled with the No. 3 APC Auto Parts Centres Chevrolet SS since a crash at Delaware Speedway. After Saturday evening, it appears that the car is sorted and he is back on form. Gemmell started on the outside of the front row and moved into the lead on the opening lap. He went flag-to-flag for the victory. |

Finishing in the runner-up position was Billy Schwartzenburg. Local racer Schwartzenburg has won two of the track's last Pro Late Model championships. He was the third fastest during the qualifying session and started on the pole, after the invert, in the No. 86 Hy-Grade Steel Roofing Ford Mustang. Schwartzenburg lost the top spot to Shae Gemmell on the opening lap. For much of the contest, he held off Jake Sheridan. At the checkered flag, Schwartzenburg was 0.378 seconds behind Gemmell. |

The hottest Pro Late Model racer in Ontario lately has been Jake Sheridan. Sheridan is the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown and APC United Late Model points leader. He may have won Tuesday’s Gold Rush 126 if not for contact. Sheridan was the fastest qualifier in the No. 52 Vibrent Farms / Raptor Filters Ford Mustang. After the invert, he started third and pressured Billy Schwartzenburg during the race. Unable to make a pass, Sheridan finished third. |

Blair Wickett is focused on the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series this season. In the first round, he finished seventh after starting ninth. Wickett collected a sixth-place result in race two. On July 4th, he qualified fifth fastest driving the No. 97W Ry-Matt Mini Storage Ford Mustang. Early in the race, Wickett found himself contesting fourth place with Kevin Albers. On the fifteenth circuit, he passed Albers in corner one. Wickett retained the position to the finish. |

As busy as ever, Shawn Chenoweth is participating in the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown, Steel City Rumble, Dayco series, and select APC Late Model events. He has one victory in the Dayco series and two wins in the Steel City Rumble championship. The driver of the No. 89C London Recreation Racing Chevrolet SS was sixth fastest in qualifying. Like Blair Wickett, Chenoweth found himself chasing Kevin Albers. After several laps, he passed Albers for a fifth-place result. |

Dale Shaw is also a busy driver competing in the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown and APC Late Model Series. After two rounds of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series, he has fourth- and fifth-place results. Shaw was gridded seventh for the third race of the championship, driving the No. 83 Wellington Systems Chevrolet SS. Mid-race, he found himself in a battle with Kevin Albers, Shawn Chenoweth and Brady Smith. Shaw passed Albers on lap 28 to finish sixth. |
