The Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series is an eight-race championship held at Flamboro Speedway.
As an incentive to increase Late Model entries, Flamboro Speedway is offering a healthy purse per race and for the final point standings. Feature races pay from first to twentieth position. The winner earns $1,600, second place pays 1,000 and third is good for $800. The total payout for a field of twenty cars is $11,450. The year end points fund totals $50,000, with the champion collecting $15,000. The championship pays through to fifthteenth place. Pro Late Models are constructed according to specifications and controls standard to most stock car series. The chassis is a tube frame covered with a fiberglass body. Eligiable bodies such as the Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang and Toyota Camry are produced by ABC Bodies, AP Muscle Car Bodies and 2019 Five Star Modern Muscle Bodies. A car can weigh as much as 2755 lbs., depending on the engine choice. Unlike the popular APC series, the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series allows teams to compete with Crate Engines or Built Motors. Rules restrict internal engine components. There is a tire rule which limits competitor to six tires to start year, all tire numbers must be submitted before any race. One tire per week limit after first race. Four tires will be allowed for JR Hanley Classic Twin 72’s. All teams use American Racer AR153-10 tires.The tires are mounted on 15" x 10" steel wheels. Transmissions must remain stock appearing O.E.M. 4 speed with all forward gears working as originally produced and a reverse gear. There are also rules restricting the options for ignition components, body material, brakes, etc. The second round of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series for Late Models was held at Flamboro Speedway on June 6. Drivers competed in a fifty-lap contest around the 0.333-mile semi-banked asphalt oval. |

It appears that Jake Sheridan has figured out Flamboro Speedway. Sheridan finished second in the opening round of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown. Last weekend when the APC United Late Model Series visited, he grabbed the victory. During qualifying, Sheridan set the fastest time and started fifth after the invert. He moved up the order in the race and passed Shawn Chenoweth for the lead and win on the thirty-fifth lap. |

Shawn Chenoweth’s Super Stock and Outlaw Super Late Model programs have been successful, but for the last couple of years he’s struggled with the No. 89C London Recreation Racing Chevrolet SS. However, this season Chenoweth is back on form. He finished third in last week's APC United Late Model event. Chenoweth started second in round two of Flamboro Grisdale Showdown and led until lap 35 when he was passed by Jake Sheridan. Chenoweth finished second. |

Shae Gemmell has enjoyed considerable success at Flamboro Speedway, earning four Grisdale Triple Crown titles. He started this season with a victory in the opening round of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown. However, Gemmell has struggled with the No. 3 APC Auto Parts Centres Chevrolet SS since a crash at Delaware Speedway. Gemmell qualified ninth for round two of the series but advanced six positions to finish third in the race. |

Flamboro Speedway regular Billy Schwartzenburg has won two of the track's last Late Model championships. Schwartzenburg started on the pole for the inaugural round of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series and finished third. The No. 86 Hy-Grade Steel Roofing Ford Mustang was gridded fourth for race two. He passed Dale Shaw but lost positions to Jake Sheridan and Shae Gemmell to finish in the fourth spot. |

Late Model veteran Dale Shaw pilots the No. 83 Wellington Systems Chevrolet SS. Shaw finished fourth in the opening round of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown. His next event was at Delaware Speedway where he finished sixth. Back at Flamboro for the second APC race, Shaw finished fifth. He started third for race two of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown but was unable to maintain the pace set by Sheridan, Gemmell and Schwartzenburg. He crossed the finish line in fifth place. |

Tyler Di Venanzo has shown great speed in his last two events. In round two of the APC United Late Model Series at Flamboro Speedway, he was fifth fastest in the qualifying session and gridded in the sixth spot. Di Venanzo fell down the race order and finished eighth. Returning to Flamboro for the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown, he started on the pole and was second for much of the contest. He pitted during the caution and returned to finish tenth. |
