The Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series is an eight-race championship held at Flamboro Speedway.
As an incentive to increase Late Model entries, Flamboro Speedway is offering a healthy purse per race and for the final point standings. Feature races pay from first to twentieth position. The winner earns $1,600, second place pays 1,000 and third is good for $800. The total payout for a field of twenty cars is $11,450. The year end points fund totals $50,000, with the champion collecting $15,000. The championship pays through to fifthteenth place. Pro Late Models are constructed according to specifications and controls standard to most stock car series. The chassis is a tube frame covered with a fiberglass body. Eligiable bodies such as the Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang and Toyota Camry are produced by ABC Bodies, AP Muscle Car Bodies and 2019 Five Star Modern Muscle Bodies. A car can weigh as much as 2755 lbs., depending on the engine choice. Unlike the popular APC series, the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series allows teams to compete with Crate Engines or Built Motors. Rules restrict internal engine components. There is a tire rule which limits competitor to six tires to start year, all tire numbers must be submitted before any race. One tire per week limit after first race. Four tires will be allowed for JR Hanley Classic Twin 72’s. All teams use American Racer AR153-10 tires.The tires are mounted on 15" x 10" steel wheels. Transmissions must remain stock appearing O.E.M. 4 speed with all forward gears working as originally produced and a reverse gear. There are also rules restricting the options for ignition components, body material, brakes, etc. The second round of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series for Late Models was held at Flamboro Speedway on June 6. Drivers competed in a fifty-lap contest around the 0.333-mile semi-banked asphalt oval. |
