The Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series is an eight-race championship held at Flamboro Speedway.
As an incentive to increase Late Model entries, Flamboro Speedway is offering a healthy purse per race and for the final point standings. Feature races pay from first to twentieth position. The winner earns $1,600, second place pays 1,000 and third is good for $800. The total payout for a field of twenty cars is $11,450. The year end points fund totals $50,000, with the champion collecting $15,000. The championship pays through to fifthteenth place. Pro Late Models are constructed according to specifications and controls standard to most stock car series. The chassis is a tube frame covered with a fiberglass body. Eligiable bodies such as the Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang and Toyota Camry are produced by ABC Bodies, AP Muscle Car Bodies and 2019 Five Star Modern Muscle Bodies. A car can weigh as much as 2755 lbs., depending on the engine choice. Unlike the popular APC series, the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series allows teams to compete with Crate Engines or Built Motors. Rules restrict internal engine components. There is a tire rule which limits competitor to six tires to start year, all tire numbers must be submitted before any race. One tire per week limit after first race. Four tires will be allowed for JR Hanley Classic Twin 72’s. All teams use American Racer AR153-10 tires.The tires are mounted on 15" x 10" steel wheels. Transmissions must remain stock appearing O.E.M. 4 speed with all forward gears working as originally produced and a reverse gear. There are also rules restricting the options for ignition components, body material, brakes, etc. The inaugural Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series for Late Models was held at Flamboro Speedway on May 2. Drivers competed in a fifty-lap contest around the 0.333-mile semi-banked asphalt oval. The event attracted APC United Late Model competitors, who were preparing for the season opener next weekend at Delaware Speedway. |

The winner of the inaugural Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series was Shae Gemmell. Gemmell has had a lot of success at Flamboro Speedway with four Grisdale Triple Crown titles to his credit. He started third in the No. 3 APC Auto Parts Centers Chevrolet SS. Gemmell chased the race leader, Billy Schwartzenberg, until lap 35 when he grabbed first place with an aggressive pass. Gremmell held the spot for the remainder of the contest. |

The fastest qualifier for round one of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series was Jake Sheridan. After the invert, Sheridan had the honour of starting in the fifth position, driving the No. 52 Vibrent Farms Ford Mustang. He advanced and, early in the race, found himself chasing Shae Gemmell. On the lap 35 restart, he followed Gemmell past Billy Schwartzenburg and moved into second. Sheridan pressured Gemmell but came up shy by 1.080 seconds. |

Flamboro Speedway regular Billy Schwartzenburg has won two of the track's last Late Model championships. Schwartzenburg qualified fifth fastest for round one in the No. 86 Hy-Grade Steel Roofing Ford Mustang and started on the pole. Early in the race, he traded the top spot with Dale Shaw. Schwartzenburg was leading on the first restart when forceful moves by Shae Gemmell and Jake Sheridan relegated him to a third-place finish. |

Gridded on the outside of the front row for race one of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series was Dale Shaw. He piloted the No. 83 Wellington Systems Chevrolet SS and grabbed the lead on the opening lap. Shaw maintained first place until the fourth circuit when he went wide in the second corner. Billy Schwartzenbury and Shae Gemmell slipped by, and later Shaw was passed by Jake Sheridan. He took the checkered flag in fourth place. |

To no one’s surprise, Kyle Steckly was fast during the practice session and expected to deliver more of the same in qualifying. Unfortunately, there was a transmission issue with the No. 22 APC CANUSA Toyota Camry, and Steckly pulled off the track before getting a competitive time. He started the fifty-lap contest in the fifteenth position. With the problem fixed for the race, Steckly charged through the field and crossed the finish line in the sixth spot. |
