2026 marks the twelfth season of the highly acclaimed United Racing Series for Late Model Stock Cars.

The 2026 APC United Late Model presented by Castrol championship kicks off on May 9 at Delaware Speedway with a race called the Dayco 100. In late May, the teams make the first of two stops at Flamboro Speedway. In mid-June, the series travels to Peterborough Speedway. On the Canada Day weekend, drivers return to Delaware Speedway for the AC Delco 159. The next race sees the championship make its final appearance at Flamboro Speedway for the London Recreational Racing 125. The Stewart’s Kubota 175 is conducted in early August at Sauble Speedway. Teams return to Sauble for round seven, called the Stewart’s & Kubota 100. Titles are determined on September 26 at Delaware Speedway during the Castrol Great Canadian 300.

The series rules remain basically unchanged from last season. Cars are built to specifications and controls typical of most stock car series. The chassis uses a tube frame with an ABC/Gen 6 body, available as a Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet SS, Ford Mustang, Toyota Camry, or Dodge Charger Daytona.

Depending on the engine choice, a car can weigh up to 2,780 lbs. Competitors are required to use crate motors from:

  • General Motors GM 604 (Red & Blue Sealed)
  • General Motors GM 602
  • Ford 347

All engines must be fitted with five seals to prevent illegal alterations to the motor:

  • Intake Manifold
  • Oil Pan
  • Timing Chain Cover
  • Left Cylinder Head
  • Right Cylinder Head

Competitors use American Racer spec tires on 15"x10" steel rims.

Stopping the cars are steel brakes.

  • Front brake rotors must be a minimum of 1.250-inch (1 ¼-inch) thick.
  • Rear brake rotors must be a minimum of 0.750-inch (¾-inch) thick.

Bilstein A2 shock absorbers are used to regulate expenses. There are also rules restricting the options for transmissions, ignition components, etc.

To determine the starting order of the race, drivers participate in a qualifying session. The five fastest qualifiers selected starting positions one through five during a random draw. Before each race, the cars receive a technical inspection and are impounded until the start of the event.

A new restart procedure was introduced in 2023 by series officials for the APC United Late Model and Dayco Super Stock divisions called the 'choose rule.' On restarts, competitors may choose their lane. Their selection may be determined by the condition of the track, how many cars are ahead of them, or the handling of their vehicle. If a driver changes their choice after the designated 'choose spot,' they must start from the rear of the field.

The 2026 NTN BCA Bearings Triple Crown returns for the fourth straight year. The three dates for the Triple Crown are Peterborough Speedway on June 13th, Sauble Speedway on August 1st and Delaware Speedway on September 26th. The three-race mini-series has a $15,000 prize fund. First place pays $3,500, second place $2,500, third place $2,000, and fourth through tenth place $1,000.

In 2026, the series introduced a new program for APC United Late Model racers. The Elite Program recognizes teams that commit to competing full-time in the APC Series season and offers extra incentives and benefits.

Round three of the APC United Late Model championship was held at ‘Canada’s Toughest 1/3 Mile Oval,’ Peterborough Speedway. This was also the first contest in the NTN BCA Bearings Triple Crown. Drivers competed in a 175-lap contest.

After a rain delay and the time required to dry the track, fourteen APC United Late Model competitors took the green flag for the first round of the NTN BCA Triple Crown. On the front row are the No. 51 Platinum Contracting Chevrolet Camaro of Mike Bentley. Beside Bentley is Connor Pritiko driving the No. 19 Domus Developments Chevrolet Camaro. Immediately behind the leaders are the No. 17 Ford Mustang of Josh Stade and Kyle Steckly driving the No. 22 Toyota Camry.
A victory on Saturday evening at Peterborough Speedway gave Jake Sheridan his second consecutive APC United Late Model win. Sheridan’s previous victory came at Flamboro, which was the only track on the tour that he didn’t have a win. The No. 52 Vibrent Farms Ford Mustang started sixth and chased Kyle Steckly for much of the race. A competition caution sent Sheridan to third place, but passes on Steckly and Ray Morneau were rewarded with a victory and the championship lead.
It appears that it is just a matter of time before the series first two-time champion, Brandon Watson, collects his first victory of the season. A flat tire in race one at Delaware Speedway resulted in a fourth-place finish. At Flamboro Speedway, contact with Kyle Steckly took him out of contention. Watson looked good at Peterborough after qualifying first in the No. 30 Dutch Brothers Ford Mustang. However, he was unable to keep pace with Jake Sheridan and finished second.
Connor Pritiko had a terrible start to the season. Oil in Delaware Speedway’s third turn eliminated him and two other competitors on lap 3. With repairs made to the No. 19 Domus Developments Chevrolet Camaro, Pritiko started on the pole at Flamboro Speedway, but he finished seventh. At Peterborough Speedway, he was gridded second but fell out of contention. After the competition caution, Pritiko’s car came to life, and he moved up the race order to finish third.
The defending APC United Late Model champion, Josh Stade, started his 2026 campaign with a victory in round one. Last year’s title chase started with a win in race one. However, at the next event, a suspension failure caused him to be the contest’s first retirement. The No. 17 Canada Clean Fuels Ford Mustang started in the third spot for round one of the NTN BCA Bearings Triple Crown. Stade ran as high as third before finishing in the fourth position.
A gear oil spill on lap 90 forced Officials to stop the race while the track crew cleaned the surface. Ryan Kimball was the first to experience the slick surface and backed the No. 16 LIUNA! Toyota Camry into the third turn wall. Repairs were made, and Kimball returned to finish tenth – one lap behind the leaders. Also caught out by the oil was the No. 2 Mobil 1 Chevrolet Camaro of Kendra Adams. Adams also hit the wall but was unable to continue.
Another competitor who can be added to the list of drivers having a difficult start to the season is two-time series champion Kyle Steckly. A flat tire and broken sway bar link in race one took the No. 22 APC Auto Parts Centres Toyota Camry out of the lead and resulted in a seventh-place finish. Contact at Flamboro Speedway dropped him from second to a ninth-place finish. Steckly led much of the Peterborough event before fading and finishing in the fifth position.
Round three of the 2026 APC United Late Model Series at Peterborough Speedway would be the longest race of the season. Remarkably, nine of the fourteen starters finished on the lead lap. Standing in the center is the winner, Jake Sheridan. Not only is Sheridan the APC points leader, but he is also at the top of the Flamboro Grisdale Showdown Series standings. Standing on the left is the runner-up, Brandon Watson. Completing the top three is Connor Pritiko.
