The popular Mini Stock category provides new drivers with an opportunity to participate in an entry-level stock car class. Rules are written to keep costs to a minimum.

The Mini Stock division is open to any 2010 and older approved 4-cylinder automobile having an engine no larger than 2500cc. The cars may be front or rear-wheel drive. Rules prohibit convertibles, 4-wheel drives, trucks, BMW, Audi, Saab turbo, V-Tec, supercharged or rotary engines. Also, excluded are mid or rear-engine vehicles. The weight of the cars is determined by the engine displacement and cylinder head design.

The body must retain its stock appearance - no chopping, channeling or sectioning is allowed.

Safety is a major concern in this division. Mini Stocks are fitted with a roll cage, fuel cell, five-point quick-release belts (shoulder and lap), aluminum racing seat and a window net.

Some of the makes and models typically raced by competitors include the Ford Mustang, Nissan 240SX, Acura Integra, Honda Civic and Pontiac Sunfire.

The 2023 edition of Flamboro Speedway’s Octoberfest took place on October 1 and 2. Competitors raced around the 0.333-mile semi-banked asphalt oval.

The prestigious hand-carved Igloo Trophy was on the line for class winners.

Day two of Flamboro Speedway’s Frostoberfest hosted Outlaw Midgets, Pure Stocks, Pro Late Models and Mini Stocks. The Mini Stock race drew twenty-six competitors. Doug Butler started on the pole in the No. 10 HWY 90 / R.S.A. Autoparts Nissan 240SX, with Mike Thomson beside him in the No. 16 Butcher and Banker / Bucks by Tatra Ford Mustang.
Shawn Taylor collected another feature victory at Frostoberfest. Taylor started fifth in the No. 76 Kangaroo Trailers / GM Electric Nissan 240SX. He moved to second by the first caution, then ran side by side with Doug Butler after the restart. Taylor took the lead and pulled away for his second consecutive Igloo.
Mike Thomson is another Mini Stock regular at Flamboro Speedway and used his home track knowledge to deliver excellent results. Thomson lined up on the outside of the front row in the No. 16 Butcher and Banker / Bucks by Tatra Ford Mustang. He ran second early in the race but could not hold off a hard-charging Shawn Taylor. On the race's first restart, Thomson followed Taylor and passed Doug Butler for a runner-up result.
Doug Butler is a threat to win at every racetrack in southern Ontario. Butler entered Frostoberfest in his familiar No. 10 HWY 90 / R.S.A. Autoparts Nissan 240SX. His odds of a victory increased when he started on the pole. Butler pulled away, but a restart on lap 14 bunched the field. He and Shawn Taylor battled for the lead until lap 18, when he lost the spot to Taylor. A couple of circuits later, Butler was passed by Mike Thomson and finished third.
Nathan Gould is one of the top Mini Stock competitors from Peterborough Speedway. Gould pilots the No. 28 Babin’s Auto Repair-sponsored Acura Integra. He started sixth in the fifty-lap contest and followed fifth-place starter Shawn Taylor to the front. Gould moved into fourth and pressured Doug Butler, but he could not make the pass and finished fourth.
On Sunday afternoon, Shawn Taylor collected his second consecutive Frostoberfest Mini Stock feature win and the hand-carved Igloo Trophy. Taylor started fifth in a strong field that included Karl Sault, Mike Thomson and Doug Butler.
