Round six of the 2026 Peterborough Speedway Late Model Series served as a support event for the OSCAAR Hot Rod and Modified divisions. Drivers competed in one of two heat races and a feature contest around 'Canada's Toughest 1/3 Mile.'

Pro Late Models are constructed according to specifications and controls standard to most stock car series. The chassis is a tube frame covered with a fiberglass body. Popular body styles include the Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet SS, Ford Mustang, Ford Fusion and Toyota Camry. Depending on the engine choice, a car can weigh as much as 2800 lbs. Unlike the popular APC series, this event allows teams to compete with crate engines or built motors. There are also rules restricting the options for transmissions, ignition components, body material, brakes, etc.

Unlike other Late Model series in Ontario, Peterborough Speedway competitors race on Hoosier Tires.

After two heat races, twelve Late Model competitors lined up for the feature. Points leader Dan McHattie is on the pole, driving the No. 71 JJ Stewart Chrysler-sponsored Chevrolet Camaro. Beside McHattie is Jacob Mercer in the No. 81 Sine's Flooring Dodge Charger. Row two is occupied by the No. 2 Bickle Farms Chevrolet Camaro of John Owen and Kelly Balson, driving the No. 10B London Recreational Racing Chevrolet Camaro.
Dan McHattie entered round six of the Peterborough Speedway Late Model championship with an impressive record that included two victories, a pair of runner-up results and one third-place finish. The driver and builder of the No. 71 JJ Stewart Chrysler Chevrolet Camaro finished second in the first qualifier. McHattie started on the pole and led flag to flag to capture his third win of the season and extend his points lead.
At race six of the 2026 Peterborough Speedway Late Model Championship, Jacob Mercer would grab his best result to date. Mercer pilots the No. 81 Sine's Flooring/Lindsay Buick GMC-sponsored Dodge Charger. He opened this year’s campaign with a fourth-place result but finished tenth in the previous round. Mercer competed in the second heat and won. He started on the front row and chased Dan McHattie to a runner-up result.
Former APC United Late Model competitor Ryan Kimball is a multi-time Peterborough Speedway Late Model track champion. Kimball drives the No. 16 Liuna! / Crowe’s Gas Toyota Camry. He won the season opener and was victorious in the previous round. Kimball ran in the second heat and finished runner-up. He was gridded tenth for the feature but charged through the field and advanced seven spots to finish in the third position.
Championship contender Kelly Balson drives the No. 10B Chevrolet Camaro with support from London Recreational Racing and Connell’s Construction. Balson won the June 27th contest during the track’s Double Toonie event. At the OSCAAR Hot Rod and Modified weekend, he was entered in the first heat race and finished in the third spot. Balson lined up fourth for the finale. He passed John Owen for third but couldn't hold off Ryan Kimball and finished fourth.
Dan McHattie claimed his third victory of the season during the OSCAAR Hot Rod and Modified event on July 25. McHattie, who earned Peterborough Late Model championships in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2018, 2019 and 2021, is on track to collect his seventh title. His 2026 stats to date,, including three wins, two second-place finishes, and a third-place finish,, give him a commanding points lead.
